Caregiving for a senior (90 years old, 100 kg, 190 cm) who lives with his wife in a family house in a larger city with good public transport access. The senior moves independently at home with the help of a walking cane. He suffers from general age-related weakness and mild dementia, primarily manifesting as forgetfulness and occasional difficulty understanding connections. He recently recovered from an infection and is currently recuperating. He may use incontinence pads. He is oriented but requires guidance and reminders for routine activities, such as hygiene or brushing teeth. Verbal guidance is sufficient for dressing and personal hygiene. He manages meals and toilet independently, lifting is not necessary. The main duties include support and relief in daily life—meal preparation, household assistance, supervision, and companionship, especially during the afternoon and evening, allowing the family to rest. Shared meals and the presence of someone to "care and oversee" are important. The family lives across the street in two houses and is very supportive, handling laundry and available if needed. A practical doctor makes home visits. Household assistance comes three times a week to cook, clean, and shop—on these days, the caregiver has time off. Night work is generally not required, only exceptionally if the situation demands willingness to get up. A guest room with internet is prepared for the caregiver, and a lovely garden is available; the bathroom is shared. Free time is possible by arrangement, with the family nearby and very cooperative.

In some cases, we are able to arrange work within a few days; in other instances, the waiting period can be up to a month. For families in Switzerland, due to high demand, the wait may extend to two months.

Of course, you can also choose another transportation method that you prefer. The caregiver pays for the journey themselves, with the family in Germany contributing €150-200 towards it, and in Switzerland 380 CHF.
In Germany, the standard length of a work period is 4 to 6 weeks, while in Switzerland it's 2 months. In the case of temporary replacements, the periods are shorter.
The salary range in Germany is between €1200 and €2200 per month on a trade license. Compensation depends on the required language and other skills, the client's health condition, and whether care is provided for an individual or a married couple. In Switzerland, the salary ranges from 2460 to 2500 CHF per month on a Swiss employment contract.
In Germany, an intermediate to good knowledge of German is most commonly required, while some families are satisfied with basic knowledge and/or require knowledge of another language, such as Czech or Russian. Families in Switzerland require good knowledge of German, though sometimes an upper-intermediate level is sufficient.
